Mr Anthony Boateng, the Country Director of Onechild Ghana, a United Kingdom (UK)-based non-governmental organisation (NGO), has lauded the government for the huge investment in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

This, he said, was necessary as the nation sought to build the capacity of the youth to set up their businesses, creating a vibrant labour market and contributing to economic growth.

He said for Ghana to participate effectively in the fourth industrial revolution, issues relating to TVET, science and engineering ought to be taken seriously.

“That is the way to go in order to make the needed technological advances for sustainable growth,” he observed.

Mr Boateng was speaking at the inauguration of a technical training workshop for the Abosamso-Asamama Technical Institute in the Bosomefreho District.

The facility was provided by Onechild Ghana to assist in the practical training of the students.

The NGO also donated 80 beds to the female dormitory of the Institute.

The Onechild Ghana Country Director advised the school to take good care of the facility for it to benefit future generations.

Mr Daniel Amo, Ashanti Regional Coordinator of the Integrated Community Centres for Employable Skills, lauded the NGO for coming to the aid of the Institute and urged the staff to continue to give off their best in the discharge of their duties.

Master Thompson Konadu, the Head Prefect of the school, in an interview, said the facility would enhance the practical training of the students.
