The Organising Committee of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2021 has dismissed the protest lodged by the Tunisian team.
The committee on Thursday, January 13, 2022, held a tete-a-tete to end the tension from the match between Tunisia and Mali played on January 12, 2022.
After careful deliberation, the Organising Committee of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2021 in a statement said, it has decided to dismiss the protest lodged by the Tunisian team and to homologate the match result as 1-0 in favour of Mali.“
This comes after Zambian referee, Janny Sikazwe blew the final whistle at the 85th minute after his attention was drawn he resumed the game and blew the whistle the second time on the 89th minute.
The errors by the referred made the Tunisians angry and moved unto the pitch in protest, nevertheless, the man of the match trophy was adjudged and the post-match news conferences were ongoing before Confederation of African Football (CAF) officials decided the remaining minutes should be played.
Mali came out ready to play 40 minutes but Tunisia refused to play on which made Sikazwe end the game for the third time.
Tunisia lodged an official protest over Sikazwe’s actions to CAF but the scores still remains the same.
