Nigerian sprinter and reigning women's 100m hurdles record holder, Amusan Oluwatobiloba, showcased her prowess by finishing first in heat two of the women's 100m hurdles.
Amusan, also the reigning African Champion, delivered a remarkable performance at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Accra, Ghana. She stormed off her blocks and maintained a commanding lead throughout the race, leaving her opponents trailing far behind.
Mozambique's Guame Cecilia secured second place with a time of 14.00s, while Ashley Tinashe took the third automatic qualification spot.
Unfortunately, Ghana's representative, Mensah Doris, failed to progress to the finals after finishing eighth with a time of 16.89s.
With her impressive performance, Amusan Oluwatobiloba emerges as a favourite to retain her crown in the finals scheduled for Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 17:30 GMT.
