Barima Yaw Kodie Oppong, the Director of the Ghana School of Law and Manwerehene of Akyem Abuakwa has refuted claims of political influence in his appointment to the position.
Oppong assumed office on April 1, 2022, succeeding Kwasi Prempeh-Eck, a private legal practitioner who retired. Addressing speculations surrounding his appointment during an interview on The Point of View on Citi TV, Oppong clarified that his selection was based on a meritocratic process.
Contrary to reports suggesting political interference, Oppong revealed that he applied for the position along with several other candidates. He recounted the day of his appointment, expressing initial disbelief and gratitude for the opportunity.
