The Ashaiman Circuit Court has fined Maxwell Agodey 43-year–old Civil Engineer GH₵600.00 or in default serve three months imprisonment for careless and inconsiderate driving contrary to section 3 of the Road Traffic Act 2004 (ACT 683).
In addition, the convict was ordered by the court to pay GH₵400.00 to the complainant for injuries and psychological trauma.
The court presided over by Mr Richard Anku Delali sentenced Agodey on his plea of guilty to three counts of careless and inconsiderate driving, negligently causing harm, and failing to produce a driver’s license.
Chief Inspector Samuel Apreweh, prosecuting said the convict is a resident of Ashaiman Switzerland.
According to the prosecution on February 9, 2021, at about 1600 hours the convict was in charge of a Kin Optima Saloon car, driving from Peaceland heading towards Ashaiman Switzerland.
Chief Inspector Apreweh said on reaching a section of the road at Ashaiman New York and Ashiaman Switzerland the convict veered off the road and ran over one Priscilla Annor, a 4-year-old.
The prosecution said the toddler sustained injuries and was rushed to Josa Clinic at Ashaiman New York for treatment.
The prosecution said the convict could not produce his professional driving license to the Police during investigations on request.
