Nottingham Forest has made a major acquisition in the transfer market with the signing of Ghanaian forward André Ayew.
The 33-year-old has joined the club on a free transfer from Al Sadd and will wear shirt number 42 during his time at Trentside.
Ayew, who is the captain of the Ghanaian national team, expressed his excitement about joining Forest in a statement: “It's a great feeling to sign for Nottingham Forest. I know how big the club is and I know how much the club means to the city and the fanbase. It's always been difficult whenever I've played against Forest and at The City Ground and I love the stadium.”
The forward is joining Forest with a wealth of experience, having played for some of Europe's top clubs including Marseille, Swansea City, West Ham United, and Al Sadd.
He is also reuniting with former coach Steve Cooper, who he played under at Swansea City and holds in high regard: “Steve Cooper is someone who knows me very well and knows how to work with me both on and off the pitch.
We have a strong relationship, he's a special coach and a special human being and someone who I really look up to.”
Ayew's professional career has been highlighted by his impressive goal-scoring abilities. During his time at Marseille, he scored 60 goals in 209 appearances.
He also made a significant impact during his two spells at Swansea City, registering 35 goals in 84 appearances under Steve Cooper and 35 goals in 106 appearances in his return to the club.
