The 1998-year group of the Labone Old Students Association (LOSA’98) presented a laptop and projector to the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) team of the school.
The Labone SHS made waves after beating Accra Academy, Achimota SHS, and other schools during the qualifying stage to emerge first-runner up for the Greater Accra Regional NMSQ contest.
Mrs Juliet Aryeequaye, President of LOSA’98 presenting the items on behalf of the group commended the team for their excellent performance at the qualifiers and the regional competition which shone a light on the prowess of the school.
Mrs Aryeequaye added that such a performance was an indication that the team could excel more in the sciences as they have the potential therefore the decision of LOSA’98 to provide the laptop and projector to them.
She said the items were dedicated solely for the team to research, learn, and practice in preparation for the national contest of the NSMQ.
She called on other year groups of the LOSA to help provide some of the needs of the school to ensure that students of the school receive a quality education, and would be in a better position to contribute to national development in the future.
Mrs Rejoice Acorlor, Headmistress of Labone SHS, receiving the items on behalf of the NSMQ team expressed gratitude to LOSA’98 for providing part of the school’s Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) challenges.
Mrs Acorlor said the gesture was an assurance that the old students were fully behind them in the quest to win the national trophy of the NMSQ stressing that the students were capable of making waves at the national contest.
