The Managing Director of Lamar Marine Services, an agency of the Regional Maritime University (RMU), Mohamed Saleh Alshareef, has announced plans to commence the construction of the first boat at the university in June.
This development follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between RMU and Lamar Marine Services, a Dubai-based company specializing in boat building, firefighting, and oil rigs.
The boat, made from lightweight and durable fibre optics, will primarily serve the Ghanaian and West African markets for monitoring, security, and fishing purposes. Lamar Marine Services has over 40 years of experience in the industry and aims to produce a high-quality boat that will benefit future generations.
The company has been a reliable partner to RMU, recruiting, training, and placing students in markets worldwide.
In addition to Lamar Marine Services, other partners of RMU, including Rig World, Hafnia Shipping, and Schulte Maritime Service, have contributed to maritime training and opportunities for students.
These partnerships focus on producing graduates with practical skills and ensuring that trained seafarers have opportunities for employment in the maritime sector.
The visit of a delegation from Dar Es Salaam Maritime Institute (DMI), Tanzania, aims to strengthen collaboration and explore opportunities within the maritime sector. The three-day visit will include the signing of an MOU and a tour of various places in Accra.
