Government plans to convert Borteyman Sports Complex into Sports University - Mustapha Ussif

The Minister for , Mustapha Ussif, has revealed the government's intention to transform the Borteyman Sports Complex into a dedicated University for Sports following the conclusion of the 13th All-.

During a press briefing held on Monday, March 4, Minister Ussif outlined the government's strategy to ensure the long-term sustainability and maintenance of the facilities post-games.

Highlighting the importance of maintaining the infrastructure for the benefit of the Ghanaian people, Minister Ussif emphasized that converting the Borteyman Sports Complex into a sports university aligns with the Republic of Ghana's vision for legacy development.

He further elaborated that the transformed facility would not only serve as a hub for sports education but would also feature additional amenities such as hostels, football pitches, cafeterias, and medical centres to attract both local and foreign sports federations.

“The expectation is that once we finish these games, we should use the facilities that we have gotten to drive more traffic for competitions here in Ghana,” Minister Ussif stated.

The proposed conversion aims to bolster Ghana's sports infrastructure and foster an environment conducive to nurturing and developing local talent while positioning the country as a preferred destination for international sporting events and training camps.

Minister Ussif's announcement underscores the government's commitment to leveraging sports as a catalyst for national development and promoting the growth of the sports industry in Ghana.
