Desmond Ofei, Head Coach of Ghana's U-20 side, the Black Satellites, expressed satisfaction with his team's performance in their opening game against Congo, despite failing to secure a win. The match ended in a goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.
Speaking during a post-match interview, Coach Ofei acknowledged that it was the team's first game in the tournament and admitted to feeling a bit anxious. However, he emphasized that they dominated play against Congo but couldn't convert their opportunities into goals.
Despite the draw, Coach Ofei praised the performance of Abdul Aziz Issah from Dream FC, highlighting his impact and contribution to the team's efforts.
Looking ahead to their upcoming matches against Gambia and Benin, Coach Ofei stated that the team's game plan would remain the same. He asserted that they wouldn't adapt to their opponents' style but would instead focus on playing their own game.
Coach Ofei identified untimely runs by his players as a key factor in their failure to find the net on several occasions during the match against Congo.
He urged Ghanaians to support the Black Satellites as they aim to win their second African Games title, emphasizing that progressing out of the group stages would be a significant achievement for everyone involved with the national team.
After their game against Congo, the Black Satellites are set to face Gambia and Benin in Group A as they continue their campaign in the tournament.
