Forty students from the Krobea Asante Technical and Vocational School in Asokore, Ashanti Region, have been arrested for causing extensive damage to school property during a protest on Sunday morning.

The students were demonstrating against the poor performance of their predecessors in their final examinations.

According to reports, four government vehicles, including a Mahindra and Isuzu pickup truck, a Nissan Patrol, and a school bus were vandalized, along with a Toyota Vitz vehicle owned by the senior house mistress.

A teacher’s salon car was also overturned. Additionally, the school’s store was broken into, resulting in the destruction of food items and other supplies. The students also attempted to break into several bungalows, causing damage to the buildings.

The police intervened to restore order on the campus, and the school has since been shut down by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah.

The Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Dr Annor Ankrah, and the District Director of Education were both on the scene, as well as the Sekyere East District Security Council.
