Independent presidential candidate Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has voiced his criticism of Vice President Dr. , asserting that Dr. Bawumia cannot absolve himself from the current economic crisis plaguing Ghana.

Kyerematen argues that as a prominent figure in the government, Dr Bawumia, who is seeking election as President, bears responsibility for the country's economic struggles. He refutes the notion that vice presidents lack the leverage to influence the nation positively, citing examples from past administrations.

Drawing parallels between late former President J.E. Atta-Mills and President , Kyerematen highlights instances where vice presidents were entrusted with significant responsibilities. He underscores that being a minister does not absolve one from the overall direction set by the executive authority at the highest level.

Kyerematen acknowledges his own involvement in the management of the economy during his tenure as Trade Minister but emphasizes his capacity as a change agent moving forward.

In an interview with Bernard Avle on The Point of View on Citi TV, Kyerematen challenged the perception that vice presidents lack influence, citing examples of past administrations where vice presidents were entrusted with substantial roles.

Kofi Bentil, Vice President of , echoed similar sentiments, urging Ghanaians to give Dr. Bawumia a fair hearing despite his position as Vice President, emphasizing that he has only served as “number 2” in the current administration.
