Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, the Volta Regional Minister, has conducted inspections of ongoing construction works on new Assembly blocks in the Ho and Kpando Municipal Assemblies. Additionally, he examined the refurbishment progress of the office building of the Afadzato South District Assembly.
Dr. Letsa emphasized that the inspections were crucial to inform the residents of the region and the wider public about the government's commitment to providing new infrastructure to enhance local governance.
He explained that the government aimed to complement existing infrastructure, creating a conducive environment for the workforce.
The Volta Regional Minister highlighted that both the Kpando and Ho Municipal Assemblies had long been without a suitable office complex to accommodate their workforce adequately.
An appeal to President Akufo-Addo through the Local Government Minister resulted in the construction of a three-story modern office complex, funded by the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).
Regarding the Afadzato South District Assembly, Dr. Letsa noted that the building was not fit for its intended purpose upon completion and handover by the initial contractor. However, he expressed satisfaction with the progress of the refurbishment work and the architectural designs.
He commended the inclusion of provisions to make the building disability-friendly for physically challenged individuals.
Dr. Letsa encouraged Assembly staff to continue giving their best efforts to elevate their respective Assemblies.
He expressed gratitude to President Akufo-Addo, the Local Government Minister, and the Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund for fulfilling their promises to the people of the Volta Region.
The Regional Minister observed that these projects would contribute to reducing the infrastructure deficit at the Assembly level.
He also acknowledged the contributions of the consultant, contractors, and the media in facilitating the projects.
The ongoing construction of the new Assembly blocks for the Ho and Kpando Municipal Assemblies has reached completion percentages of 70% and 80%, respectively. The refurbishment work at the Afadzato South District Assembly is approximately 90% complete.
Consultants from FeDems Limited and the contractor, Construction Ambassadors, briefed Dr. Letsa and his team on the progress of the projects.
The construction firms responsible for these projects are Modern International Developers Limited and Vonny Borq Company Limited. Dr. Letsa revealed that an extension of a two-story building to the existing structure would commence soon.
