Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, has urged Muslims to adhere strictly to the principles and teachings of Islam during and after the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha for Almighty Allah to continue to bless them.
He made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after joining hundreds of Muslim worshippers at a special prayer session held at their annual prayer grounds at Womsom in Winneba Township.
Eid-ul-Adha is the most important feast on the Muslim calendar observed for four days annually to commemorate the willingness of Prophet Abraham’s sacrifice to offer his son, Ishmael, in obedience to Allah’s command but Allah stopped him to rather sacrifice a ram.
Alhaji Kassim thanked the Almighty Allah for bringing the faithful that far and prayed for his continued protection and guidance in all their endeavours.
He urged Muslims, particularly the youth, to continue to refrain from engaging in all forms of negative tendencies and rather support developmental efforts in their communities.
“You are to fight the battle within yourselves against sinful desires and you must reflect on the significance of the feast of sacrifices, for this struggle in which all of us need to participate,” he stated.
He further urged them to be reformed, forbid evil and do good because a person who continuously engaged in evil acts, could not attain self-reformation, adding that it was only when this was done that societal development would be attained.
He further urged his constituents to bury their differences in order to forge ahead to improve their livelihoods, saying without peace and unity the needed development would not materialize.
Alhaji Mohammed Issah Monsuri, the Effutu Chief Imam, who led the worshipers in prayers, thanked Allah, the Omnipotent and Merciful, and prayed for continued peace and tranquillity to prevail in Effutu and in the nation.
He further prayed, for Allah’s guidance and wisdom for the President and his Vice, Ministers of state, Omanhen of Effutu, Member of Parliament for Effutu and all leaders to execute their tasks towards the total development of the citizenry.
He also called on the entire Effutu Muslim community to continue to pray for peace and unity.
