The Champions of Champions clash, which is organised by City Gate Travel and Tours, one of the leading travel and tour agencies, is to settle the rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria.
Mr Mizbawu Issah, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of City Gate Travel and Tour agency speaking at the launch of the Champions of Champions clash said, the company was poised to contribute to the tourism industry in Ghana, hence the need to use sports as a tool to achieve their goal.
According to him, the decision to organise this super cup clash was to deepen the bilateral relationship that had existed between Ghana and Nigeria.
Also Speaking at the launch was Madam Akosua Dentaa Amoateng, the Diaspora and International Relations Manager of premier league giants, Asante Kotoko expressed how happy the club was having been part of the super clash.
“On behalf of the management team, we are excited to be working with City Gate. One of the things that this year we wanted to do was to make sure we take our fans with us, so we have brought out some packages for fans to explore the opportunities in Turkey.”
Mr Abdul Majeed-Bawa, the Deputy Director of the National Sports Authority said “this was the first time a private company is assisting the local clubs, the champions in the Premier League, to engage their counterparts in a foreign land in preparation for the next season and the CAF Championship”.
He further commended the organisers of the Super Cup and urged other private companies to join hands with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Sports Authority and the Ghana Football Association to help develop Football in Ghana.
“We can use sports and tourism to reduce unemployment in the country,” he said.
Asante Kotoko would begin their pre-season tour starting 15th to 30th August in Turkey before returning to Ghana to compete in 2022/2023 Ghana Premier League (GPL) in September and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League after winning the 2021/2022 GPL title.
