The autopsy results for Stacy Okyere, the late first-year student of Aburi Girls Senior High School, have revealed that she died from cerebrospinal meningitis, an acute inflammation affecting the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord. The post-mortem examination was conducted at the Ghana Police Hospital, with additional tests carried out at the Ghana Standards Authority.
Nora Danso, the elder sister of the deceased, shared in an interview that the family anticipates receiving the hard copy of the autopsy report on Monday, February 26, 2024. She explained that the report had been endorsed, and multiple copies were being prepared for the school, Ghana Police Service, and the family.
Danso further disclosed that the burial ceremony for Stacy Okyere is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Ablekuma in Accra. The 15-year-old student tragically passed away on February 5, 2024, after complaining of severe stomach pains.
Earlier reports had suggested that Stacy's death resulted from alleged medical negligence by the school nurse, who reportedly accused her of feigning illness repeatedly. Unfortunately, by the time she was taken to the hospital, she had already passed away.
