The Regional Directorate of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice () has collaborated with Dreamzfm, a -based radio station, to donate food items and assorted drinks to inmates of the Central Prisons.

The donation, including bags of rice, cooking oil, groundnuts, bottled and sachet water, and minerals, was made in response to an appeal by prison authorities to address some of the challenges facing the inmates.

The public also played a crucial role in supporting the initiative, responding to an appeal campaign by and Dreamzfm to solicit support for the inmates.

The Regional Director of CHRAJ, Mr. Jaladeen Abdulai, expressed gratitude for the public's response, noting that some individuals, in addition to providing monetary support, contributed food items to aid the cause.

Mr Abdulai mentioned ongoing discussions with the Regional Supervising High Court Judge, Justice Charles Adjei Wilson, to address cases of inmates who have been on remand for an extended period without trial.

Plans are in place to either bring the court to the prisons for case hearings or take details of such inmates for trial at the courtroom in the Municipality in January.

While addressing the inmates, Mr Abdulai conveyed a message of hope, encouraging them to use their time in prison for self-reflection and positive change.

The Regional Chaplain of the , Reverend Joachim Yinime Bugre, expressed gratitude for the donation, emphasizing that the items would be used for the benefit of the inmates.
