Accra Hearts of Oak, one of Ghana Premier League's top clubs, has announced the appointment of Ivorian Aboubakar Ouattara as the substantive Head Coach of the team.
Following the dismissal of Dutch tactician Martin Koopman in November 2023, the Phobians have been without a permanent coach as they faced challenges in the first half of the season.
In a statement released on Friday, February 9, 2024, the club disclosed that Aboubakar Ouattara, holding a CAF Licence A coaching certificate, has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract.
“Coach Ouattara has signed a two-half contract with the club and is expected to start training next week when the team returns from this weekend's friendly game against Techiman Eleven Wonders,” the statement read.
Ouattara brings a wealth of experience to the role, having achieved success in various African countries as both a coach and Technical Director. Notably, he served as the Technical Director for Moroccan giants WAC from 2017-2023, contributing to their victory in the CAF Champions League twice. Additionally, he has secured domestic titles with TP Mazembe and ASV of RDC.
In another development, Hearts of Oak announced Mr Delali Anku-Adimah as the club's new Managing Director with immediate effect.
Mr. Anku-Adimah boasts high educational qualifications, including a PHD in Computational System Biology from the University of Manchester, UK, and a BSc in Computer Science with Business Management from the University of Birmingham.
“We implore all Phobians to offer him maximum support during his stay at the club to lead us to achieving preeminence,” the statement concluded.
