Ada Traditional Council launches Asafotufiami festival 2023

The has officially launched the 2023 edition of the Asafotufiami with the theme “Honouring our heroes, revamping natural resources, and unlocking tourism potential.”

The festival, celebrated by the Ada people in the , holds great cultural significance and serves as a reminder of their .

The launch event, held in collaboration with the District Assembly, the Member of , the District Chief Executive, chiefs, and religious leaders, aimed to commemorate the cultural history, , and traditions of the Ada people.

According to the Ada Traditional Council, the festival not only showcases the values and fortitude of the people but also highlights their resilience and collective strength.

Nene Agudey Obitchere III emphasized that the Asafotufiami festival goes beyond celebration, bringing together people from all walks of life and promoting unity, respect, and love.

The festival will a range of activities, including clean-up activities, a kenkey party, a candlelight parade, a homecoming float, a visit to the sacred forest, night, Miss Asafotu, a Grand Durbar, musical entertainment, a non-denominational Thanksgiving, a royal walk, a marathon, a regatta, a tug of war, community football, a playing card tournament, a food fair, and an indigenous song and dance competition.

The Asafotufiami festival promises to be a vibrant showcase of Ada's rich cultural traditions through cultural displays, musical and dance performances, and various traditional events.

The festival will culminate in a non-denominational Thanksgiving, blending tradition and Christianity, symbolizing the fusion of cultural values and religious beliefs.
