Central Regional Minister urges city-based partnerships between Ghana and US

Mrs , the , has called for enhanced city-based development partnerships between Ghana and the (), citing the () 17.

She said the existing relationships between some cities in Ghana and the USA should be ramped up for mutual economic and social benefits.

The Minister made the call at a colourful durbar in , where US Vice President paid a courtesy call on Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, the Oguaamanhen.

Mrs Assan cited the example of the City of establishing a partnership with a city in focused on tourism and education.

She also appealed to the US Government for support systems to empower women in Ghana to reach the decision-making table.

Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II called for the construction of a Tourism Museum by the Oguaa as a legacy project for the Vice President to be part of that history.

Harris agreed and appointed a liaison officer to facilitate a direct working relationship between and the US.

After touring the Cape Coast Castle, Harris denounced the and atrocity of the slave trade, saying “the horror of what happened here must always be remembered.”

She emphasized the importance of learning from history and carrying the knowledge gained towards the work of lifting up all people and recognizing the struggles of all people. She called for fighting for justice and freedom for all people and for all people.
