The Central Tongu District Assembly has inaugurated 27 Assembly members and 13 government appointees in a ceremony held at the District Assembly's forecourt. The inauguration, in line with the provisions of the 1992 constitution and the Local Government Act, 2016 (Act 936), saw the newly appointed members taking the oath of secrecy and allegiance.
Mr. Thomas Moree Zonyrah, the District Chief Executive for Central Tongu, commended the newly inaugurated members for the trust placed in them by their constituents. He urged them to collaborate closely to advance a common developmental agenda for the district. Mr. Zonyrah assured the members of his support whenever needed, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in achieving sustainable development.
In his address, Mr. Hottordze Alexander Roosevelt, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Central Tongu Constituency, congratulated the Assembly members and appointees. He emphasized the significance of avoiding political conflicts and instead focusing on collective efforts towards the district's progress. Mr. Roosevelt stressed the importance of unity and collaboration in addressing the district's development challenges. He also pledged his ongoing support to the Assembly members and appointees to facilitate the district's advancement.
