CLOGSAG Northern Region protests delayed salary structure implementation: Ghana News

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana () in the has called on its members to wear red bands and fly red flags in protest against the alleged delayed implementation of the new salary structure and other conditions of service.

In a statement signed by Naba Alhaji Apam Nuhu, the Regional Secretary of , the Regional Executive Council (REC) held an emergency meeting to address the prolonged delay in the implementation of the new salary structure and other conditions of service.

The REC referred to a previous (MOU) dated January 24, 2022, which stipulated that the new salary structure should be finalized by August 31, 2022, and implemented from January 1, 2023.

The statement outlined the REC's dissatisfaction with the perceived inaction on the part of the government, stating, “The Regional Executive Council (REC) after going through all the above has decided that it is either now or never, enough of the unwarranted and deliberate inaction on the issue we have waited long enough and can no longer bear the frustration and demotivation that characterize this obvious bad faith on the part of the Government.”

It called on CLOGSAG members to rise up and fight for their entitlements, emphasizing that workers' benefits are not usually granted effortlessly. The statement urged the CLOGSAG headquarters to declare an immediate strike in response to the grievances.

The move comes as a response to what CLOGSAG perceives as a failure to fulfill the agreed-upon terms outlined in the MOU, pushing the regional chapter to take a stand in the interest of its members' welfare.
