The Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) in the Volta Region marked its 25th anniversary with a ceremony held in Adidome, Central Tongu district. The event served as an opportunity to reflect on the Agency's achievements over the years and address ongoing challenges.
Mr. Kofi Mensah Sebuabe, the Regional Director of CWSA, highlighted the significant progress made since the Agency's establishment in 1998. He cited improvements in water provision, basic sanitation services, and hygiene promotion across numerous communities. The region boasts an impressive water infrastructure, including thousands of boreholes, hand-dug wells, and pipe systems, ensuring access to clean water for many residents.
Mr Sebuabe reaffirmed the Agency's commitment to extending its services to all communities and urged residents to utilize water responsibly to sustain these vital resources.
Mr. Augustus Awity, Chief Director of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, pledged support to CWSA in delivering clean water to rural areas. He assured that the government would invest adequately to promote the Agency's objectives and address water shortage crises, particularly in the regional capital Ho.
Mr. Thomas Zonyrah, the District Chief Executive of Central Tongu District, commended CWSA for its efforts and emphasized the importance of ensuring water accessibility across the region. He promised continued support from his office to enhance the Agency's services at the district level.
Togbe Ayensu Kokotako III, Chief of Mafi-Wume and chair of the anniversary lauded CWSA's dedication to providing clean water for residents' domestic and commercial needs. His remarks underscored the essential role played by the Agency in improving the quality of life in the region.
The anniversary celebration not only commemorated CWSA's achievements but also reinforced its commitment to addressing water-related challenges and ensuring sustainable access to clean water for all communities in the Volta Region.
