Two members of the Ghana National Fire Service are currently in police custody in Damongo, Ghana, on charges of murder.
The accused, along with others who are currently at large, are alleged to have beaten 27-year-old Shurazu Nuhu, a labourer, over suspicion of stealing a mattress.
Zakaria Mudasiru, the brother of the deceased, recounted the incident to Citi News, stating that his brother was severely beaten and assaulted by three individuals who accused him of stealing their mattress.
Despite conducting investigations, the alleged assailants did not find the mattress in question.
The family permitted a search, and when the mattress was not found, they instructed the individuals to hand Nuhu over to the police.
According to Mudasiru, the police were reportedly frustrated with such cases and advised the individuals to handle it themselves.
Tragically, Nuhu was discovered missing on Sunday morning and was later found in a weakened state.
Despite efforts to prepare a police report and arrange for medical attention, Nuhu succumbed to his injuries.
The family is demanding justice for their brother, emphasizing that everyone is entitled to justice, regardless of their background.
Mr Mudasiru accused the Ghana National Fire Service personnel of being responsible for his brother's death.
The incident highlights concerns over vigilante justice and the need for a thorough investigation to ensure accountability and justice for the victim's family.
