A recent poll conducted by the Centre for Sustainable African Development Initiatives (C-SADI) in the UK and The Outcomes International in Ghana has shown that Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is the leading contender in the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) flagbearership race.
The poll indicates that he holds a substantial lead over other candidates with the support of 80.8% of delegates.
In the poll, Dr Bawumia is followed by Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, who is projected to secure second place with 10.4% of the vote. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto garners 1.1% of the support, while Francis Addai-Nimoh receives 0.4%. Approximately 7.3% of delegates remain undecided.
The poll's findings are consistent with previous surveys that have also shown Dr. Bawumia with a significant advantage.

During the Super Delegates Conference of the party, Kennedy Agyapong caused an upset when he emerged as the second-highest vote-getter, receiving 14.30% of the votes, with Dr Bawumia in the lead.
The report attributes Dr Bawumia's favourable position to his vision for both the party and the country, his competence, and his perceived ability to secure victory in the 2024 presidential election.
“The main bases for assessing candidates by delegates are the vision of the candidate for the party, the vision of the candidate for the country, and the candidate's competence. Delegates of the party believe the party stands a good chance of breaking the 8 if the performance of the government is improved and the party stays united after the primaries,” the report explains.
The NPP's presidential candidate for the 2024 General Elections will be elected by over 200,000 delegates on November 4, 2023, and all recent polls suggest Dr Bawumia is the front-runner in the race.
