Ghana Airports Company Limited apologizes for power outages at Kotoka International Airport

The (GACL) has issued a formal apology to passengers affected by power outages experienced at the on Friday, March 1, 2024.

Passengers traveling to and from various destinations were left stranded on Friday night due to power failures at the airport, causing disruptions to travel schedules.

In a Facebook post dated March 2, GACL confirmed the incident and provided an explanation for the power outage. According to the statement, the backup generators, which are designed to start within 3–5 seconds of a power cut, took approximately 1 minute and 30 seconds to activate during the incident.

Management at GACL expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by the outage and assured passengers of their commitment to delivering a seamless travel experience. They also emphasized that steps are being taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

The Facebook post from GACL reads as follows:

“Management of (GACL) wishes to confirm that experienced intermittent power outages on Friday, 1st March 2024.”

“Our backup generators, which normally kick-start within 3–5 seconds of an outage, took about 1 minute 30 seconds to kick in.”

“Management of GACL apologizes for the inconvenience caused.”

The apology comes as GACL endeavors to ensure the reliability and efficiency of operations at Kotoka International Airport, acknowledging the importance of minimizing disruptions to passengers' travel experiences.
