The top brass of the (GAF) met with the leadership of the (GJA) at the Ghana International Press Centre, in a bid to strengthen collaboration and foster a partnership for promoting peace and stability in the country.

This visit reciprocated the earlier one made by the GJA leadership to the Military High Command in September, marking a significant step towards mutual understanding.

The meeting served as a platform for both parties to discuss ways in which the military and the media could work hand-in-hand to contribute to the nation's peace and stability.

Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, President of the GJA, emphasized the importance of the military as a vital partner in the Association's activities and expressed optimism that the visit would further enhance their collaborative efforts.

Commending the military high command for their tact and civility in addressing complaints of foul reportage, Mr. Dwumfour also took the opportunity to criticize instances where some soldiers attacked journalists.

He urged other institutions to emulate the military's approach in dealing with journalistic misconduct, emphasizing the use of civil remedies instead of physical confrontations.

In his statement, Mr. Dwumfour highlighted the need for journalists to maintain professionalism and adhere to ethical standards in their work.

He disclosed that the military high command had filed a complaint with the GJA regarding the alleged unprofessional behaviour of Captain Smart, a journalist.

The matter has been forwarded to the Association's Ethics and Disciplinary Council for thorough review.

“We believe in the competence of the Council constituted by Article 42 of the Association's Constitution and made up of eminent personalities to bring out the right report,” he stated.

Vice Admiral Seth Amoama, Chief of Defence Staff, GAF, praised the GJA for its warm reception and expressed optimism about further strengthening ties between the two entities.

The GJA President presented a plaque to the Chief of Defence Staff as a token of gratitude for the GAF's cooperation and friendship with journalists.

Additionally, copies of this year's GJA Awards brochure were presented to the Chief of Defence Staff, underscoring the ongoing commitment to collaboration and understanding between the military and the media for the greater good of the nation.
