Ghana Music Awards-USA CEO urges government collaboration for December in GH promotion abroad: Ghana News

Dennis Boafo, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Don's Music Production and the organizer of the Awards-USA, is calling on the government to collaborate with Ghanaian event organizers abroad to enhance the promotion of December in GH.

While acknowledging the success of the initiative in recent years, Boafo emphasized the potential for greater achievements with official government involvement.

Speaking to on January 10, Boafo, popularly known as Don D, highlighted the proactive efforts of some Ghanaian event organizers in the UK, US, and other locations who have been independently promoting December in GH in the diaspora.

He expressed optimism about the impact of a strong partnership between the government and recognized event organizers.

Boafo stated, “Yes, the government is doing well by providing the enabling environment for December in GH to thrive, but I can tell you on authority that Ghanaian event organizers in the UK, US, and other places are really pushing without any official mandate.”

He underscored the potential benefits of collaboration, citing the presence of tourists in Ghana who came for December in GH due to his personal recommendation. Boafo envisioned a significant increase in tourist numbers with an official collaboration.

While acknowledging the government's existing collaboration with embassies, Boafo advocated for the inclusion of event organizers, emphasizing their organized platforms to promote December in GH.

The #DecemberInGH campaign was officially launched by the (GTA) in 2019, aiming to position Ghana as a preferred December holiday season destination globally. Boafo stressed the need for expanded collaboration to strengthen the impact of the initiative.

Boafo addressed concerns about the economic benefits, noting that while Ghana is perceived to gain during the festivities, airlines like Delta Air Lines profit significantly from December travel.

He emphasized that effective collaboration among stakeholders would lead to more substantial gains for Ghana.

As the December in GH initiative continues to attract diverse visitors, including those participating in events like AfroFuture, Boafo urged the government to seize the opportunity for increased collaboration and economic impact.
