Youth Defection: NPP members in Ketu North switch allegiance to NDC

In a surprising turn of events, a group of youth in the Ketu North Constituency of the , purportedly affiliated with the ruling New Patriotic Party (), announced their decision to join the opposition National Democratic Congress ().

Their shift in allegiance, they claim, is rooted in what they perceive as the incompetent leadership of the -Bawumia government.

The youth, including former executives in the region, made this declaration on January 11, 2024, signalling a noteworthy divergence from their previous political affiliation.

Dissatisfied with what they consider a failing government, these individuals expressed their reluctance to continue supporting the current administration.

Bernard Akpabli Agbeli, a former youth organizer of the NPP in the area, spoke to about their decision.

He affirmed their commitment to supporting the and its flagbearer, . In his statement, Agbeli declared, “Already, I have declared my total support for John Mahama and the NDC. We will campaign for them, and we will make sure that we win the presidential and will form the majority in the parliamentary election.”

Highlighting his extensive history with the NPP, Agbeli revealed, “I was the polling station youth organizer, formerly polling station organizer; I was the constituency youth organizer as well.” He emphasized his 27 years of service to the NPP and lamented that the current government was not effectively addressing the needs of the people, leading to their decision to switch political allegiance.
