The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) has announced plans to engage stakeholders in crafting a strategic plan aimed at revitalizing the senior national football team, the Black Stars.
This initiative follows Ghana's disheartening group-stage exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), marking the team's second consecutive early departure from the tournament.
The MOYS, through its Public Relations Unit, acknowledged the disappointment surrounding the Black Stars' recent performances, emphasizing the need for constructive action.
A statement from the ministry highlighted past support provided to the team and investments made in infrastructure and talent development.
“Regrettably, the recent and continued poor performance of the Black Stars highlights fundamental structural and systemic deficiencies in our football ecosystem and journey,” the statement read.
Expressing a commitment to addressing these challenges, the ministry pledged to collaborate with stakeholders in formulating a strategic plan aimed at identifying and resolving the underlying issues affecting the team's performance.
“In the coming days, the Ministry, in consultation with the national team stakeholders, will announce a strategic plan to identify the causes and the roadmap towards the revival of the Black Stars,” the statement affirmed.
Furthermore, the MOYS called upon Ghanaians to rally behind efforts to rebuild the team, emphasizing the importance of collective support in restoring hope and confidence in the future of Ghanaian football.
