The Nkoranza South and Municipality in the Region are set to receive significant infrastructure development as part of the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme (GSCSP). The projects aim to boost socio-economic activities in these areas.

Mr. Dan Botwe, the Sector Minister for Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development, announced this development during separate sod-cutting ceremonies for two vital projects. In Nkoranza, a multipurpose market will be constructed, while in , an ultra-modern urban park and social centres will be built.

The Nkoranza project includes the construction of a police post, health centre, 100-unit market stalls and stores, schools, and boreholes to provide potable drinking water for the area's residents. The completion cost of this project is estimated to be around GH¢8.5 million. In addition, the region will receive an estimated GH¢30 million for other initiatives aimed at enhancing the municipality and its environment.

For the Techiman Municipality, the construction of the ultra-modern park and social centres is budgeted at GH¢12,275,912.18. Once completed, this facility will include running tracks, playgrounds, health facilities, and recreational centres to meet urban standards. Furthermore, the municipality will benefit from approximately GH¢90 million to support additional development projects geared toward improving the quality of life for its residents.

Mr Botwe emphasized the government's commitment to advancing the social and economic development of the citizens through the consistent implementation of development projects. With growing urbanization trends, the government is determined to develop more cities under the GSCSP to meet the demands of the people. He encouraged cooperation with the contractors to ensure the projects were completed within the stipulated timeframe.

Traditional leaders in the region, including Nana Braffour Twi-Brempong, Adontehene of the Techiman Traditional area, and Nana Kwame Baffoe of the Nkoranza Traditional area, expressed their satisfaction with these projects. They highlighted the positive impact these initiatives would have on the communities and urged the government to ensure they are completed as scheduled, preventing any waste of state resources.
