Senior Presidential Advisor Yaw Osafo-Maafo has called on aspiring parliamentary candidates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to ramp up their campaigns, emphasizing that filing nominations is just the beginning of their journey to become legislators.
As the chairman of the Akyem Oda constituency NPP election committee, Mr Osafo-Maafo made this call during the nomination filing of the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, on Monday.
Addressing the gathered crowd, Mr Osafo-Maafo highlighted the significance of robust campaign efforts in achieving the party's goal of breaking the eight-year electoral jinx in the 2024 general election.
“Winning the 2024 general election is a herculean task that requires the concerted efforts of all party supporters,” stated Osafo-Maafo.
Commending MP Alexander Akwasi Acquah for initiating various development projects in the constituency, Osafo-Maafo urged him to maintain and expand such initiatives for the benefit of the area.
While expressing gratitude for the massive turnout during the nomination filing, Mr Acquah pledged to maximize the NPP's presidential votes from 79 percent in 2020 to over 90 percent in the upcoming general election.
He also acknowledged the unwavering support from NPP executives and constituents, emphasizing the Oda constituency's top-ranking performance in the Eastern Region during the 2020 general election.
Other speakers at the event included Constituency NPP Secretary Ben Kuuku Baiden and Municipal Chief Executive for Birim Central, Ms Victoria Adu.
