Police launch manhunt for suspect in fatal stabbing of KNUST student to death

Authorities in the are intensifying efforts to apprehend a young man accused of fatally stabbing Lambert Frimpong, a 23-year-old second-year History and Politics student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology ().

The tragic incident occurred during a heated dispute between Frimpong and a friend in Kronum-Kwapra, situated within the Suame Municipality of the .

The altercation escalated, leading to Frimpong being stabbed multiple times. The incident transpired around 10:30 pm on Saturday, August 5, 2023, with Frimpong succumbing to his injuries upon arrival at a nearby medical facility.

In response to the incident, local law enforcement authorities have initiated an investigation, inviting individuals residing in the residence where the tragedy occurred to aid in shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Pius Acheampong, the Assembly Member for Kronum-Kwapra, provided insight into the events leading up to the tragedy.

He stated, “A quarrel ensued, and the suspect threatened to kill him. Later, he stabbed him with a knife multiple times when the argument heated. The police have invited the tenants who witnessed the incident. They are looking for the suspect.”

Frimpong's untimely demise comes as he is preparing to return to to sit for his semester exams. His death has sent shockwaves through the academic community and beyond.

The lifeless body of Lambert Frimpong has been transported to the morgue at the as investigations continue and authorities seek to locate and apprehend the alleged assailant.
