Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has suggested that returning stolen funds to Ghana could contribute to economic recovery.
Speaking at the 3Business Ghana's Economic Forum Agenda, he emphasized, “If the money that has been stolen from this country is brought back we will get somewhere.”
He also highlighted that the problem of money being siphoned out by politicians has been a cause of economic challenges.
Kwame Pianim, another NPP stalwart at the event, expressed concern about Ghana's economic situation, stating, “Where we are now is difficult, we have never been there before.” He called for urgent attention to address the challenges and emphasized that the country hasn't fully turned the corner.
In a previous address to Parliament during the 2023 mid-year budget review, Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta noted that the government had managed to avoid essential shortages, maintain fuel supply, and ensure consistent power supply.
He referred to the nation's collective efforts and investments since the challenges began in March 2020 as contributing to the positive progress.
