Planting for Food and Jobs will achieve food security, Says President Akufo-Addo

President Nana has expressed his unwavering belief in the potential of the (PFJ) Programme to lead Ghana towards self-sufficiency in food production.

In a Presidential Roundtable Discussion with development partners focusing on the PFJ, President underscored the significance of the programme and its role in enhancing in the country. He emphasized that the government was fully committed to supporting the scheme to ensure its success.

“I am firmly convinced that the second phase of the programme will raise awareness about the potential of Ghana's agriculture and attract the necessary investments so that we can achieve and economic growth in Ghana,” President Akufo-Addo stated.

Furthermore, Deputy Minister of Finance Dr. assured that the would provide the necessary funds to the to facilitate the effective implementation of the PFJ. Dr. Kumah pointed out the significant budgetary allocation to the PFJ, demonstrating the government's dedication to the agricultural sector.

“By the numbers, the budgetary allocation from the has increased from GH¢188 million to GH¢857.8 million in 2022 under President Akufo-Addo. Crucially, we have maintained our resolve and commitment to the agricultural sector,” said Dr. Kumah.

He also highlighted the Ministry of Finance's consistent efforts to ensure that the received adequate funding, even in challenging economic conditions.
