The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) has debunked social media rumors about purported plans to impose movement and commercial activity restrictions during the burial of the late Takoradi Amanful Chief.
In an official statement issued by Mr. John Latse, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the STMA, the Assembly addressed these unfounded claims.
The statement, shared with the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi, refuted the audio circulating on social media that alleged restrictions on movement and commercial activities in the Metropolis beginning on October 26, 2023, for the late Takoradi Amanful Chief's burial.
The STMA emphasized that these rumors were baseless and urged residents in the Metropolis to disregard such misinformation.
The Assembly stated its intent to communicate with residents at the appropriate time to provide details about the agreed-upon arrangements with the Takoradi Amanful Palace for the traditional rites associated with the burial of the late chief.
Mr. Emmanuel Ohene-Gyan, Media Aide at the Palace, confirmed that Osahene Katakyie Busumakuralll, Takoradi manhene, had not issued any directive to close shops or other business centers. He urged residents to dismiss the rumors circulating on social media as untrue.
