Tiger Eye P.I., the investigative journalism firm led by Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has vehemently refuted allegations of bribery involving former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kwesi Nyantakyi. In a recent press release, the organization addressed the purported bribery attempt and clarified its stance on the matter.
According to Tiger Eye P.I., Nyantakyi confessed to paying a bribe of $100,000 to lawyer Kwame Gyan, purportedly representing Anas Aremeyaw Anas, to prevent the publication of the infamous Number12 documentary. However, Tiger Eye P.I. denies any involvement in soliciting or accepting bribes from Nyantakyi, emphasizing their commitment to exposing corruption.
Furthermore, Tiger Eye P.I. stated that they never engaged the services of a lawyer named Kwame Gyan from the University of Ghana, as alleged by Nyantakyi. Instead, the organization exclusively retained the legal representation of CromwellGray LLP throughout the production of the documentary.
The press release also challenged Nyantakyi to pursue legal action against the purported recipient of the bribe if his claims hold substance. Tiger Eye P.I. underscored the robust internal mechanisms in place to prevent any alteration or suppression of their investigations, dismissing Nyantakyi's assumption as naive.
Nyantakyi, who remains banned from all football-related activities and faces criminal trial for corruption and fraud, allegedly attempted to evade accountability through bribery. Tiger Eye P.I. highlighted the suspicious circumstances surrounding the murder of key witness Ahmed Suale, who was in conference with state prosecutors over Nyantakyi's trial before his assassination.
Anas Aremeyaw Anas, now a crucial witness for the state, has opted not to testify due to safety concerns. However, he is prepared to cooperate fully if the Supreme Court grants permission for his testimony without disclosing his identity.
Tiger Eye P.I. concluded by reaffirming its commitment to exposing crime and corruption in Ghana and beyond, distancing itself from Nyantakyi's alleged attempts to restore his credibility.
