The UK branch of Ghana's New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially endorsed Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia as their candidate for the party's leadership in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
The declaration of support was made during a private meeting held in Accra, Ghana, on August 25, 2023, which included the leadership of the NPP-UK branch.
NPP-UK branch Chairman, Kingsley Adumattah Agyapong, led the party executives in expressing unanimous support for Bawumia's candidacy.
The NPP-UK branch leadership endorsed Bawumia as the candidate they believe can lead the party to secure another term and maintain continuity in their developmental initiatives.
Agyapong emphasized the strategic importance of Bawumia's candidature, with the aim of breaking the eight-year cycle of governance change.
This decision followed a thorough assessment of all potential candidates and discussions with the branch's general membership.
Bawumia expressed his gratitude for the endorsement, acknowledging the confidence and trust placed in him by the NPP-UK branch.
He emphasized the commitment to continue their developmental programs for the betterment of Ghana.
The UK branch leadership also praised Bawumia for his participation in the NPP International Women's Conference 2023 held in London and reiterated their support for the government and the President.
Bawumia is set to lead the NPP's bid to secure another term in the 2024 general elections.
