In a display of corporate benevolence, Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) has extended a helping hand to the Madina Polyclinic through its #UMBCares program, as part of the bank's commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The generous donation comprises beds for both adults and children, medical equipment consumables, and a variety of medicines.
As part of the #UMBCares initiative, UMB's staff and management mobilized resources to give back to the communities where they operate, emphasizing healthcare and education interventions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
Mr. Philemon Okyere Danquah, the Acting Executive Director for Business at UMB, highlighted the significance of the donation and emphasized that it was spearheaded by the Corporate Banking team.
He underlined the bank's commitment to giving back to society, and in collaboration with their Madina and UPSA branches, they identified the Madina Polyclinic as the focus of their traditional end-of-year CSR activity.
The Madina Polyclinic, established in 1974, plays a vital role in providing primary healthcare to over 36,000 patients annually.
Mr Peter Agagah, the Administrator of the facility, expressed gratitude for the timely donation, noting that it would alleviate hardships for financially vulnerable citizens, including pregnant and newly delivered mothers, as well as porters and hawkers in the Madina market area.
Mr Emmanuel Sackey-Incoom, Unit Head-Mining and Metals and coordinator of the #UMBCares program, highlighted the collaborative nature of the donation, with contributions from clients and institutions such as M&G Pharmaceuticals, Letap Pharmaceuticals, and Maranatha Oil Services Ltd.
The #UMBCares initiative, an ongoing effort by UMB, seeks to unite staff, team members, and advocates of the bank to support various community causes.
Previous activities under #UMBCares include donations to Mina's Educational Complex, Pantang Hospital, free medical screenings in Kasoa, a soup kitchen in Abossey Okai, and medical screenings for “Kayayie” at the Techiman market.
UMB's commitment to corporate social responsibility underscores its role as a truly Ghanaian bank invested in the well-being of the people of Ghana.
The recent donation to the Madina Polyclinic exemplifies UMB's dedication to making a positive impact on the communities it serves.
