In a show of solidarity and a commitment to national development, the University of Ghana Alumni Association (UGAA), in collaboration with alumni from various Ghanaian universities, organized a unity health walk in Accra on Saturday.
The event aimed to raise awareness about the significance of partnerships in achieving common goals.
Alumni from institutions including the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Methodist University, the University of Cape Coast, and Central University participated in the 10-kilometer walk, themed “Alumni Connect.”
The walk sought to foster unity, encourage networking among graduates, and contribute to collective national development efforts.
The participants gathered at the UG Alumni Office and traversed several principal streets of Legon during the health walk. Madam Doris Ansah, Chairperson of UGAA, highlighted the event as the first of its kind organized by the Association to actively contribute to Ghana's developmental agenda.
She emphasized the goal of bringing alumni from various universities together to foster networking and idea-sharing for common objectives.
Mr. Francis Dadzie, President of the UPSA Global Alumni, stressed the importance of providing a platform for professionals to discuss national development issues independently of political affiliations. He expressed the need for professionals to offer unique and impartial ideas to address Ghana's challenges.
Madam Jemima Owusu-Baah, Global Executive Member of KNUST Alumni, shared recent initiatives undertaken by the alumni, including the KNUST ‘Day of Giving' and contributions to the Endowment Fund. These initiatives aim to address accommodation challenges and support various projects undertaken by the universities.
