Vanuatu delegation meets Speaker Bagbin to strengthen bilateral relations

A five-member delegation from Vanuatu, led by Professor Hugh Aryee, the Internal and External Trade Commissioner of Vanuatu to the West African sub-region, paid a courtesy call on Speaker at House in .

The delegation informed the Speaker of the intention of the President of Vanuatu and Ministers of the Trade Commission and Foreign Affairs to visit the of Ghana to boost economic activities in both countries.

According to Prof Aryee, the visit was aimed at building bilateral relations and initiating trade talks between the two countries. He used the opportunity to introduce himself to the Speaker and expressed gratitude for the words of encouragement he received from the statesman in his early days. Prof Aryee noted that the people of Vanuatu were interested in learning from Ghana.

Vanuatu is a South Pacific Ocean nation consisting of roughly 80 islands that stretch 1,300 kilometres. The islands are known for offering scuba diving at coral reefs, underwater caverns and wrecks. The capital, Port Vila, is their economic centre and is located on the island of Efate.

Speaker Bagbin expressed appreciation to the delegation for their visit and expressed a keen interest in the tourism potential of Vanuatu.

He described the people of Vanuatu as individuals who were close to nature and living in real life.

In his remarks, the Speaker noted that Ghana was open to partnering with Vanuatu to explore opportunities for growth and development.

He assured the delegation that the Ghanaian government would create an enabling environment for the planned visit and ensure its success.
