The entire 54 members of CAF gather their national team coaches and captains, plus a number of journalists, and voted for Victor Osimhen – VO9π³π¬, as Africa's best for the outgone season, in line with the believe of so many soccer pundits across the globe.
But Ghana,π¬π leading South Africa πΏπ¦in a campaign of calumny against sanity, saying the remaining 52 member-countries were wrong.
Mind you, the two of them (Ghana and South Africa) combined are not more than 1% of the entire population of Africa. Yet, they pretend as though, they're wiser than the rest of the continent, even though they have failed to provide an alternative to VO9, in terms of stats, individual awards, team successes among others.
Let it be noted that, despite Osimhen's current dip in form, no African player has come closer to what he'd done for club and country this year. So, be prepared for another African Player of the year award for the lanky striker.
It is unfortunate that this campaign is being led by a country who is currently ranked 68th in the word, not even in the top 10 in Africa, has not tasted an AFCON match win for 5 years, and yet to record a victory in all competition this year, and had recorded just just one win in its last 10 matches, including friendly matches. This is not forgetting the fact that, they did not make it out of the group stage in last AFCON in Cote d'Ivoire.
With all these baggage, I don't expect Ghana to not focus on what the problems with its football are. But they've made Osimhen, and Nigeriaπ³π¬ their KPI, doubling down on issues that are irrelevant to the revival of their dead national teams.
Ghana, South Africa, and others, Osimhen and Nigeria are not responsible for your lack of successes. Concentrate on the task of rebuilding and jettison trolling Osimhen. He's bigger than all of your current players and most of the past ones, and there's virtually nothing you can do about it for now.
If you're in doubt of what I am saying, or you're new here, just wait for their responses to this post to confirm it.
Let me pause here for now. A word is enough for the wise.
