The Member of Parliament for Wa West, Peter Toobu, has raised concerns about the statements and actions of Interior Minister Henry Quartey, alleging that they are inciting senior Police officers against the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Management Board (POMAB).
Toobu specifically highlighted the Minister's recent visit to the Police Headquarters, during which he announced plans for a supplementary special recommendation list for the Police academy. Toobu criticized this move as an unnecessary embellishment of Course 53.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Toobu criticized the Minister's conduct, labelling him a “walking contradiction.” He pointed out that while the Minister cautioned against social media incitement, his announcement regarding the supplementary recommendation list lacked legal or policy backing.
Toobu further asserted that the Minister's actions had succeeded only in inciting Chief Inspectors and Inspectors against the Police administration.
Upon assuming office, the Interior Minister had called for the suspension of Course 53, despite the activation of necessary procedures for officer selection.
