Ms Anna Adukwei Addo, the Tema West Municipal Chief Executive, has called on Muslims in the Municipality to strictly observe all COVID-19 protocols as they mark the Eid-al-Adha feast to curb the spread of the virus.
Ms Addo, who joined the Muslims to commemorate the Eid-Al-Adha at the Lashibi St James Park, also reminded Ghanaians that the COVID pandemic was still around and there is the need to take the protocols seriously while observing the religious festivals.
She added that all gatherings in the Municipality must be done with strict adherence to the COVID-19 protocols to prevent the situation where such events become a super spreader of the virus in the area and Ghana at large.
She also called for a peaceful celebration devoid of dangerous motorcycle riding on the streets as often seen during such celebrations.
Meanwhile, the TWMA has presented eleven rams to the Muslim Community heads in eleven electoral areas in the Municipality for the celebration of the feast of sacrifice as a sign of the Assembly’s support and appreciation for the prayers offered by the community for the area.
Alhaji Atif Annan, a representative of the Imams at Tema West, who received the rams on behalf of the Muslim Community, thanked the Tema West Municipal Assembly for the gesture and the continuous support.
Alhaji Annan said Eid was being celebrated as one of the pillars of Islam and, therefore, all Muslims must see it as sacred.
He said the youth must, therefore, not use the period to disturb others by indulging in unacceptable activities such as the careless riding of motorbikes in the area.
