The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) and the Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG) staged a walkout during a meeting with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) on Wednesday, expressing dissatisfaction with the commission's approach to discussions on their conditions of service.
Citing concerns about the FWSC's “bad faith, contempt, and lackadaisical attitude” towards crucial aspects of their conditions of service, both associations underscored their refusal to tolerate disrespect and a perceived lack of commitment.
UTAG and TUTAG made it clear that they would not participate in meetings that do not result in tangible benefits.
“We would no longer countenance the gross disrespect and lack of commitment towards our quest for improvement in our conditions of service,” emphasized the representatives of UTAG and TUTAG.
Additionally, they issued a stern warning, asserting that the voices of university lecturers would soon be heard in a manner more comprehensible to the employer or the government.
