The Bawumia Campaign Team has forcefully rejected accusations levelled by Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a presidential aspirant within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Ken Agyapong alleged that certain members of the Bawumia Campaign Team had approached him with an offer to entice him to step down from the presidential race.
He claimed that he was assured the position of running mate to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for the 2024 general election.
In response, the Bawumia Campaign Team has unequivocally denied these allegations, asserting that no such offer or contact was initiated with Mr Kennedy Agyapong. Dr. Gideon Boako, the spokesperson for Vice President Bawumia, issued a statement in Accra that directly addressed these claims.
The statement further rebuffed assertions made by Mr Agyapong that Dr Bawumia was undermining the NPP through intimidation tactics.
It underscored that maintaining party unity remains a paramount concern for Dr Bawumia, who has chosen not to retaliate to unwarranted attacks and has encouraged his supporters to adopt the same approach.
Dr. Bawumia's campaign strategy primarily revolves around convincing party delegates to endorse his candidacy by presenting his vision for the party and the nation.
The statement reaffirmed that the competition for the NPP's flagbearer position is an internal affair, and all participants, especially the aspirants, should be guided by the party's core values, including honesty, decorum, and mutual respect for one another.
