Ibrahim Tanko, the Head Coach of the Black Meteors, has expressed his disappointment over his team's exit from the  Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations () tournament, acknowledging the hunger of Ghanaians for the trophy over the years.

In a crucial match against , Ghana needed a victory to secure a spot in the semi-finals. However, the game ended in a 1-1 draw at the Ibn Batouta Stadium on Friday, resulting in Ghana's elimination.

During a post-match conference, Coach Tanko admitted that his team could have performed better, considering the preparations they had made leading up to the competition.

He mentioned the friendly game against  as evidence of their readiness to compete for the continental title and qualify for the 2024 , which Ghana has missed since 2004.

The former Dortmund player attributed the team's failure in the tournament to a lack of concentration from his players.

He also acknowledged that Ghana did not possess the highest level of quality compared to other teams in the competition, emphasizing the need to select the best players for future tournaments.

“We must sit down and analyze the games we played; there is a lot to learn and room for improvement,” Coach Tanko urged.

Ghana accumulated four points in the three games played, securing third place in Group A.
