The Dormaa branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has announced its decision to maintain current transport fares until receiving a directive from the national headquarters regarding any fare adjustments.
Nana Asamoah Yeboah, the Chairman of the Dormaa Central branch of GPRTU, emphasized their commitment to abiding by the law and avoiding any violations. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Dormaa-Ahenkro, he stated that the local branch would adhere to existing fares until further notice.
Nana Yeboah elaborated on the usual process for fare adjustments, involving consultations with various stakeholders such as drivers, passengers, and the Municipal Assembly. These discussions help determine any necessary changes to transport fares.
Furthermore, he advised commercial drivers operating in the area to refrain from imposing unauthorized fare hikes to prevent potential disputes with passengers.
