Seven people lost their lives in a tragic accident on Monday, February 5, 2024, when a speeding truck collided with a mini-bus [trotro] on the Amasaman-Nsawam portion of the N6 highway in Greater Accra. The incident occurred on a section of the road undergoing reconstruction, leading to fatal consequences.
Reportedly, the mini-bus driver had slowed down at a pothole on the road due to the ongoing reconstruction of the Pokuase-Nsawam portion of the N6 highway. Unfortunately, the truck following behind was unable to decelerate in time, resulting in a collision.
Eyewitnesses recounted that the truck ran over the minibus [trotro] from behind, causing the unfortunate loss of seven lives. Three other individuals reportedly survived the accident.
The victims were found unresponsive when eyewitnesses managed to extract them from the mangled vehicle. The collision serves as a tragic reminder of the challenges posed by road conditions during construction work and the importance of cautious driving in such areas.
